This is considered one of the most natural, unspoilt areas in France and stretches over the southern slopes of the Mont Sainte Victoire, to the east of Aix-en-Provence.
The vineyard covers the hillsides overlooking the High Arc Valley, on very gravelly limestone, clay and red sandstone soils. These poor well-drained soils are ideal for growing vines.
This terroir benefits from an exceptional amount of sunshine and a gentle continental climate. It is protected in the south from maritime influences by Mont Aurélien and the Sainte-Baume mountain range.
The steady dry Mistral wind is beneficial to the vines helping to purify the vineyard. Grapes mature later here than the rest of the appellation Côtes de Provence, giving the wine their characteristic freshness.
